Description: Fish inside a birdcage is my calm after the storm. It was done during covid. Specifically, during my confinement while I was sick with it. I was quarantined in my room for the two weeks required (at that time) to not infect the rest of my family. During that time, all I could do was draw. While I drew I started listening to Dustand Townsend’s music, and his song «Rule #4 Fish inside a birdcage». Something in that virus pushed me to animate the whole thing. Why not? What else was I going to spend my time with? For five days, I drew this little fish and bird to the tune of Dustand’s song. Once it was completed, I was applauded by my family and friends, and I was more than satisfied with that. But then my dad had the idea to send the animation to the singer. After all, we’re still stuck at home, right? Might as well have my animation travel to where I could not. To my surprise, Dustand not only read our mail, and saw my video, but he then proceeded to ask if he could use it. So, this animation was recognized by the original songwriter/singer/composer and was uploaded to his official YouTube channel, where it now has over 65k views. That was the wildest thing that happened to me on the pandemic. I’m very proud of myself for being able to pull this off, and even if the animation has aged a little too much in my eyes, it’s still an achievement I celebrate today.
