«Why don’t you keep safe all of Elani’s drawings?», asked her grandparents when she was little. Reality is, we would have needed a whole warehouse to archive all pages that she drew on since she was able to hold a crayon. Elani’s formal artistic training began when she turned six years of age. She won two drawing contests, one in her primary school, and another one organized by the university Tec de Monterrey. From start, it was clear that she preferred to draw animals, not humans. During the pandemic, while sick from the infamous virus, she animated the song “Fish inside a birdcage”, by the eponymous artist, and was recognized by the singer. A few months following this accomplishment, the concept for her inaugural literary work, «D de Dino F de Flor,» materialized. She currently is finishing high school, lives with her parents and brother, her pomeranian dog Coco, her tuxedo cat Midna and, as soon as she can, her house will be a zoo.
“¿Por qué no le guardan todos sus dibujos a Elani?”, preguntaban sus abuelos cuando ella era pequeña. La realidad es que se hubiera necesitado un almacén para archivar hoja tras hoja que ilustraba desde que pudo sostener una crayola. Entró formalmente a clases de pintura a los seis años. Ganó dos concursos de dibujo, uno en su primaria, el Centro Educativo Vía Reggio, y otro organizado por el Tec de Monterrey. Desde el inicio fue claro que prefería dibujar animales, no humanos. En la pandemia, al enfermarse por el infame virus, animó la canción “Fish inside a birdcage”, del grupo con el mismo nombre, y fue reconocida por el cantautor. Pocos meses después surgió la idea para su primer libro. Actualmente cursa la preparatoria en el Tec de Monterrey. Vive con sus papás, su hermano, su pomeranian Coco, su gata tuxedo Midna y, cuando pueda, su casa será un zoológico.
